A neighbor, on her pre-dawn daily morning walk, did a double take when she saw me out on my balcony hanging up a freshly laundered load of wash. “Sue, it’s going to rain today,” she reminded kindly me. “Thank you,” I responded, “I going to let them begin to dry during those moments when the sun comes out.” She shook her head, wished me “Good luck” and went on her way.
As I continued to drape and securely clip towels, sheets and wash cloths over my balcony’s low-hanging drying poles, I realized that what I was doing was also one of the ways that I now tend to handle expected and unexpected annoyances or challenges that pop up in life…by utilizing and appreciating those sunshine or unregulated moments of joy that appear at just the right time… especially when the “going get rough.”
